How do we follow up on a busy May? With an even busier June. I jokingly posted “Send me a Red Bull”. In hindsight, it’s clear that this would have been the perfect time for drop shipping. June was a great month spent shooting and traveling which allowed us an opportunity to create new artwork and videos, and have lots of fun along the way. If you’re looking for a creative and fun-filled environment, be sure to check out Sugar Cube Entertainment!

June 1st with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities

We kicked off June with a bang when we worked with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities. We had a great time shooting their video in our studio, and we’re looking forward to working with them again in the future. Check out their video Mayors and Reeves: What’s their role? as part of a series produced for the Association.

June 3 at NEOVATION

On June 3, we had a blast with Neovation, an AI company creating virtual avatars. They’re obsessed with unleashing human potential and increasing organizational intelligence. We shot images against our green screen so they could take the images (and the dialogue) to generate their amazing avatars. During setup, I recorded this short video explaining how we placed the various lights and screens.

June 4 PRIDE is back at CLUB HAPPENINGS

The Pride Festival was a perfect time to celebrate the diversity of our community. I was happy that it returned this year on June 4, after a multi-year interruption due to the pandemic. My thoughts turned immediately towards some of the past PRIDE projects we worked on, including the Rainbow Harmony Project where we helped create this video with musical talent Heather Bishop for Unison Festival Fabulous Firsts.

We headed off to Club Happenings and it did not disappoint – they had an incredible event planned for their patrons, including performances by several drag queens in between DJ sets throughout the night. Our favorite parts? Watching everyone get down on the dance floor after each performance; seeing how happy people looked when looking back on these photos; enjoying the night as if nothing else mattered besides being there at that very moment of togetherness, making memories, and creating magic.

June 6 was Time to REWIND with the Showband

We spent this day shooting a performance music video for Rewind the Show Band. The drummer also happens to be someone I worked with at APTN and he brought us in for the shoot! It’s so great working together again after all these years, it really felt like home by this point…A REWiND concert is served up not only through 5 part vocal harmony but 6 lead singers accompanied by guitars, bass drums, hand percussion, keyboards, sax, and even the flute. With choreography and tidbits of their backstory seasoned with humour, they deliver an incredible performance. The band has been praised as, “the only one of its kind in the city of Winnipeg! You would have to go to Toronto or New York to see anything like it!” Check out the rewind harmonies rock pop & doo wop!

Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes of the shoot:

June 8 at the 365 Tech Party!

365 Technologies loves to celebrate its team, and what better way to do that than by having a staff party? They invited us along to capture the moments that meant the most to them. The staff had a great time mingling and celebrating their love for all things technology. It was wonderful to see everyone united in one place, enjoying each other’s company. We were able to get some great photos of the event that they’ll be able to look back on and cherish for years to come.

June 9-11 with AventPro at the MGEU Convention

We were excited to once again work with AVentPro on this incredible project. MGEU Special Convention 2022 was held June 9-11, 2022 at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre in Winnipeg. In-person and online delegates joined the debate and voted on members’ resolutions for this one-time Special Convention. For a recap of what happened, check out the Special Convention Highlights page.

June 17 Photoshoot with Mary Black

We got another chance to work with the incredible motivational speaker and entrepreneur Mary Black. We previously worked with Mary on her Kids Help Phone project back in May. For this visit, she required some portraits for the MAXIM Covergirl 2022 competition.

June 13 and June 20 POSTER COMPETITION & Poster Competition National Awards

The Canadian Student Health Research Forum is an annual event that offers a venue for networking, research exposure, and recognition of Canada’s most promising students in the health sciences. Each year they invite universities to nominate their top doctorate holders within this field, at work, on campus, or out working towards fulfilling potential by participating in our forum! We were there snapping photos at The Manitoba Poster Competition/Presentation which took place on Monday, June 13, 2022, and at the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne campus and the Manitoba Awards Ceremony at the Frederic Gaspard Theatre (BMSB) on June 20th.

June 17 with Stardust Photography

No June is complete without at least one wedding shoot with Stardust Photography. Perfect skies were tailor-made for Jonathan and Johanna’s spectacular wedding shots. Always happy to provide our services during these moments of love.

June 19 wraps up with the Manitoba Marathon

To wrap up the month, we participated in the Manitoba Marathon on June 19. An incredibly energetic event with great athletes and supportive spectators. We felt the catharsis while capturing the runners across the finish line.

As you can see, it was a busy month here at Sugar Cube Entertainment! We’ve loved working with all of our clients this month, and we’re looking forward to sharing our July highlights. Thanks for following along!

We work with a variety of different groups and support many events. If there’s something we can help you with, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Contact us today!
