Scott Carnegie
Founder / Creative Director
Scott Carnegie is a veteran filmmaker with 20+ years experience. He has had his hands in producing, directing, editing, photography, camera operation and training broadcast professionals. His passion for telling stories translates to all areas of communication from making promotional films to producing short graphic comics.
Scott has produced several documentaries, the latest of which appears on CBC, Amazon Prime and iTunes.
As the founder of Sugar Cube Entertainment, he is dedicated to creating content that is informative, compelling and effective.
Sean Perrun
Filmmaker/Director of Photography
Sean Perrun is a two-time award winning filmmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His most recent project, No Road Blocks, Just Detours, won best directorial debut at the Gold Star Movie Awards. He was the co-director, co-writer, and one of the cinematographers on that film, which was released on BellMTS Fibe TV1.
Sean’s co-production short film Writer’s Block won best film at the 2018 Anti-Racism Arts Festival’s 48-hour film challenge.
His other credits include editing for Ring Warriors, a CBC executive produced short documentary. Sean was a camera operator for the MTS Stories From Home film Staging The Band, and cinematographer for the Winnipeg Film Group’s 2019 48-hour film challenge runner up, We All Die Alone.
Jeremy Carnegie
Writer/Production and Camera Assistant
Jeremy Carnegie is a burgeoning writer with credits that include a graphic novel published for CBC, The Limbo Generation. He has been working with Sugar Cube Entertainment as a production and camera assistant since 2017.
Jeremy has spent several years hosting his own radio show on SJC Broadcasting and acting in live theatre. When he is not working on media projects, Jeremy enjoys live streaming on Twitch.
Natalie Batkis
Writer
Natalie is a communications professional with 20 years of experience in television, marketing, advertising, and journalism.As a freelance writer, she has had articles published in newspapers and magazines including The Winnipeg Free Press, The Citizen, LocalFare, Strategy Magazine, Smart Connections, just to name a few. For 12 years, she has worked as an on-air promotions producer with APTN, a national broadcaster in Canada specializing in indigenous programming.
Natalie has been nominated for two Signature Awards and won in 2014 for a commercial she wrote and voiced for APTN. In 2016, she wrote the award-winning documentary, Closing Time: The Vanishing Prairie Beverage Room for Bell/MTS TV. It also aired on CBC’s documentary series “Land and Sea” in November 2018.
Melissa Van Soelen
Producer/Assistant Editor
Melissa Van Soelen worked as an independent producer, director, and animator. She was the production manager on the hit Animal Planet documentary series “Dr. Keri: Prairie Vet” – season two. She was the Unit Manager on “Omega Man: A Wrestling Love Story” for TSN’s “Engraved On A Nation” documentary series.
Melissa has worked on multiple commercials, independent films, and documentaries. She produced and directed the documentary Short “Why Are You Here?” (2020), and was the co-director and director of photography on the short thriller film “Vengeance” (2020). Melissa is currently working as a mixed media artist, creating her first experimental stop motion documentary entitled “Without You”.
